BFAL 2018

BFAL 2018 is the second annual meeting of the new series of top-flight Thematic International Conferences on state-of-the-art topics in the context of a broad range of multiple academic and research activities undertaken by the Institute of Intelligent Systems (IIS). Following the successful presentation and discussion of recent research in the context of BFAL 2017, held in the University of Patras, BFAL 2018 aims to bring together once again specialists in Neuroscience, Computer Science, Medicine, Education, Human Computer Interactions, Social Interaction. BFAL 2018 will be held as a joint event with ITS 2018, in Montreal, Canada, on June 11 – 12, 2018.

The selected papers will be published in Springer’s Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI series).

Theme of the Conference
The theme of conference is “Brain Function Assessment in Learning”. Our understanding of brain function advances constantly and in many different directions, challenging the researchers to look into various types of specialized knowledge and update findings, thus developing an continuously expanding volume of relevant publications. The convergence of cognitive studies, tools of artificial intelligence, neuroscience approaches and health applications open a new era of multidisciplinary research tracks. The conference aims to regroup research in multidisciplinary domains such as neuroscience, health, computer science, artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, education and social interaction on the theme of “Brain Function Assessment in Learning”. It will also look into the emergence of new, multimodel and wireless assessment devices, which allow new ways of experimentation in laboratories, with light, non intrusive, and low cost material. In addition, it will offer the opportunity to industrial representatives of this technology to present the new perspectives of there equipment with demonstrations, concerning EEG, fMRI, Eye tracking systems, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, etc.

BFAL 2018 hopes to establish a tradition of understanding better how to use the brain capabilities in order to improve cognition and learning in the framework of a cross discipline approach. Its expected impact of the conference will contribute to the analysis of multiple promising applications and tools of Brain Function Assessment in Learning used in Education and Neuroscience.
