Youth exchange of young learners

Fostering Youth Empowerment: Non-Formal Education and Cultural Exchange in Poland

Neonalysis recently participated in the impactful youth exchange programme EDUexchange, organised by the Polish association Stowarzyszenie Kulturalno Oświatowe Wsi Dominikowice (SKOWD) under the KA2 project. From 16 to 21 October 2024, this vibrant exchange took place in the scenic town of Gorlice, Poland, bringing together 30 enthusiastic participants from Greece and Poland.

The program aimed to enhance the connections between the two countries through collaborative learning and cultural exchange. Over the four days, participants explored Gorlice’s cultural heritage, experienced the Polish education system firsthand, and participated in interactive workshops to promote personal growth and active citizenship.

Highlights of the Program

Workshops for Skills Development

Young participants took part in workshops centred around key themes such as active citizenship, soap-making, and digital skills. These activities equipped participants with practical tools and creative outlets, encouraging them to think critically and cultivate entrepreneurial mindsets.

Visit to Gorlice Town Hall

The visit to Gorlice’s town hall was a standout moment. Participants met with the town’s Mayor and explored Gorlice’s rich historical narrative, which provided valuable insights into local governance and fostered an appreciation for democratic decision-making at the community level.

Cultural Excursion to Krakow

Before departing, participants visited Krakow and embarked on the Miles Route tour at the renowned Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This adventurous experience provided a unique insight into Poland’s cultural heritage, contributing an unforgettable chapter to their exchange journey.

Bridging Nations Through Non-Formal Education

The EDUexchange project aimed to extend its impact beyond the youth exchange by fostering collaboration between Neonalysis and SKOWD. The program focused on empowering educators in both organizations to improve their approaches to non-formal education in critical areas such as social inclusion, entrepreneurship, and democracy.

Lasting Impact on Participants

Participants returned home with enriched experiences and skills:

  • Intercultural Competence: By collaborating with peers from another country, participants built solid international friendships and enhanced their cultural awareness.
  • Language Skills: The exchange provided a platform for improving English proficiency and practising effective communication in a foreign language.
  • Confidence and Active Citizenship: Through engaging activities, participants stepped outside their comfort zones and embraced new perspectives on active participation in their communities.

Moving Forward

Neonalysis celebrates the success of this initiative, which has demonstrated the power of non-formal education to inspire, empower, and connect youth across borders. The project reinforces its commitment to fostering a more inclusive and active society by nurturing international collaboration and equipping young people with essential life skills.

Neonalysis is eager to continue supporting initiatives that empower youth and promote cultural understanding, building a brighter future for the next generation.
